Artificial intelligence is rapidly remodeling the software industry, transforming both how programs are built and who can create them. Over the past few months, advanced AI coding tools like Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, and Google Gemini have become capable of generating complex websites, applications, databases, and much more – all from text prompts. Tasks that used to require teams of experienced programmers working constantly for months can now be completed by an individual within the matter of a few hours. Several experts believe that software is entering its biggest change since the creation of the internet. As AI will only continue to advance, making programming faster and more accessible, it will also continue to wipe out technical jobs and raise concerns about how business will compete in the future.

The leading cause for this transformation is said to be the rise of AI assisted coding, also known as “vibe coding”. Rather than writing every line of code manually, developers (which can now include complete beginners), can describe what they want in plain text as the AI generates, tests, and improves the software. Such tools as mentioned earlier have dramatically improved since 2025, allowing users to create complete websites, games, business tools and much more in a fraction of the time it would have taken previously. Massive projects that took companies hundreds of thousands of dollars to be executed by multiple designers, engineers, and project managers can now be accomplished for the cost of a monthly AI subscription. AI has also made software development accessible to millions of people with little to no programming experience, giving students, entrepreneurs, and small businesses the chance to work on tasks that were previously far beyond their budget.

The business world has also begun to transform as a result of AI’s rapid changes. Investors have become increasingly concerned by the growing competition faced by traditional software companies as businesses rely more on AI to build their own tools than the companies who sell expensive software. Major technology companies have started to integrate AI into almost every product they offer, while also reducing the amount of routine work completed by humans. Even though experts say software engineers will remain an important part in the industry, many routine coding jobs have been completely automated. As a result, skills like creativity, communication, product design, leadership, and especially marketing will prove to be more valuable than technical skills in a world where the barrier of entry to build software is lower than ever.

At this point, where AI will only continue to advance, many believe the biggest advantage in this capitalist society will not be the ability to build products, but the ability to solve problems and successfully reach customers. In summary, AI has made it so executing projects can be done faster and less expensive than ever before; however, with millions of new applications likely to be released, attracting users and building trust (high quality marketing) will become the biggest challenge. The future of technology will be defined by creating the most valuable ideas and bringing them to the people who need them most.
